A watermark is text OR an image that is applied to a photo that lets others know who created the image. In the past, most people added their watermark using the desktop version of Lightroom, but it can ALSO now be done in Lightroom Mobile.
In this blog post, I will show you add your watermark in Lightroom Mobile step-by-step.
Note: If you don't have currently have the free Lightroom mobile app then you can follow these directions to install Lightroom mobile today!
Lets get started with the first step:
If you just want to add a TEXT LOGO, you can go ahead and skip to Step 3 now. If however, you want to add an IMAGE OF YOUR LOGO, you will need to format it without a background in Photoshop or another editing tool and save it as a png file. If you had your logo professionally created, your graphic designer may have already provided this file type to you.
If your logo file happens to be a PSD file, you will need to convert it to a PNG file. To do that, open the PSD file in Photoshop. Double-click on the "Background" layer. A new layer pop-up will open. Press "Okay" and then go to File>Save As or press shift+command+S (Photoshop keyboard shortcut). When the dropdown menu opens up, choose the PNG option (at the bottom). If you don't see the PNG option, click the "Save a Copy" button and it should see it there.
Make sure you save your PNG file in a place you can access from your mobile device!
Next, head over to Lightroom Mobile to set up and add your watermark. We will do this while exporting an image, so choose an image in Lightroom Mobile that you want to export.
Tap on the box with an up-arrow to begin the export process. In the options that appear, choose "Export As...". Next, toggle the "Include Watermark" option to the ON position.
Next, tap the "Customize" option located directly under the "Include Watermark" toggle switch which will open the "Customize Watermark" options. From here tap Graphic at the top and then tap the section directly below to locate the watermark PNG file on your phone
Once you locate and tap on your watermark file, you will ll be taken back to the "Customize Watermark" screen and your watermark should now be showing on your image.
To change the location of your watermark, tap on the circles covering your image and move it to the place you want. The Size slider will adjust how large the watermark is on your image and the Opacity slider will adjust the transparency. The Horizontal Offset and Vertical Offset sliders can really help you dial in the location of your watermark.
When you are done customizing your watermark, tap the arrow in the upper-left corner. This will take you back to the Export screen. From there, tap the check mark in the upper-right corner to export your image to the location of your choice.
(If you already added a graphic watermark, there is no need to do this step. You are DONE!) However, if you want to add a TEXT watermark to your image in Lightroom Mobile, tap on the box with an up-arrow to begin the export process. When the options appear, choose "Export As..." and toggle the "Include Watermark" option to the ON position.
Next, tap "Customize" directly under the "Include Watermark" toggle switch to open the "Customize Watermark" options. From there, tap "Text" at the top of the Customize Watermark screen. In the box at the top, type whatever text you want to show as a text watermark on your image.
In this example, I just typed my business name and then copied and pasted it four times into that same box.
To change the location of your text watermark, tap on the circles covering your image and move it to the place you want. To change the text font, tap on the "T" icon to select the font you want to use. You can also make the text Bold or Italics using the "B" and "I" icons respectively, and/or change the text color from black to white by tapping the black or white squares.
The Size slider will adjust how large the text watermark is on your image and the Opacity slider will adjust how transparent your text watermark appears. The Horizontal Offset and Vertical Offset sliders can really help you dial in the location of your text watermark.
When you are done customizing your text watermark, tap the arrow in the upper-left corner of the Customize Watermark screen. This will take you back to the Export screen. From there, tap the check mark in the upper-right corner to export your image to the location of your choice.
Your watermark is now set up and you can add it to your beautifully edited images in Lightroom Mobile as needed.
The next time you want to export an image with a graphic or text watermark, you will only need to tap the export icon, choose "Export As..." and then press the check mark in the upper-right corner. SUPER EASY!
